FME – Maritime Energy Transition Research Project
Moen Marin is part of the research center Maritime Energy Transition (FME MarTrans), which has received funds to address key challenges in the maritime sector.
Sintef has been granted funding for a major research project through the Research Centres for Environmentally Friendly Energy (FME) initiative.
The goal of FME MarTrans is to reduce emissions from ships and enhance value creation in the Norwegian maritime sector. It aims to drive further investments in R&D and innovative solutions, helping to keep industries such as Norwegian aquaculture at the forefront.
The Norwegian and European aquaculture sectors have set a goal to cut 55% of emissions by 2030.
“There are high ambitions for emission reductions, and we all need to contribute. Norway needs more investments to maintain the development of our leading, innovative solutions. We believe this collaborative model can be highly impactful for both Norwegian and international value creation in the maritime industry,” says Mariell Ulla Toven, Chief Business Development Officer at Moen Marin.
FME MarTrans Aims to Create Value by Focusing on Three Key Areas:
First, by reducing emissions from shipping companies. Then, the technology required to achieve this reduction will create opportunities in the global market for participating Norwegian industries. Finally, the resulting development of infrastructure and value chains will benefit both the industry and society as a whole.
Moen Marin is part of this project and will contribute through technical, business, and financial support, among other areas. We will actively monitor the project’s progress through participation from our employees. In this way, Moen Marin aims to contribute to a holistic approach to emission reductions and the use of alternative energy sources.
